The results that you get when you play the guitar ultimately will determine your level of proficiency on the guitar and how fast you move to the next level.
This means becoming the guitar player of monster you want to be, you get maximum results every time that you play the guitar.
What is the best way to do so? There are several factors which will ensure that get the best out of each guitar practice session. Here is one of the most important...
The power of Focus
You must be able to concentrate during your workouts to achieve maximum results and achieve your goals of guitar.
No matter what you're working on in your practice session, you are simply wasting your time if you are not focused on the guitar.
If your mind is distracted and thinking of other things while you play the guitar, it becomes very difficult for you to improve your game. This may seem a point clear, but in my many years of teaching I never cease to be amazed by the practice of guitar players how many while doing something else.
Some guitarists watch television while they practice. Other guitarists check E-mail and surf the Internet while they practice. Others will talk on the phone, that they practice. Some have even listening to background music.
Whenever you play the guitar you need to listen to the music that you create. Other that, the only other time that you must listen to music as a practice you is when you play with songs or teaching books.
Here's the thing to keep in mind. By performing several tasks at the same time, that you will feel as you get much done, but you should know that there are limits to the multitasking.
Multitasking is really part of our way of life, but you should be aware that if you plan other things, watching television, or carry out any other task in practice, you weaken your power of concentration.
If you want to put in half an hour or more to play the guitar, you want to achieve the maximum results of that time, do you?
You have to remember that there are limits to the amount of information that we can concentrate our resources in mental health at a given time.
Recent research suggests that multitasking is not effective.
A study has shown that subjects who have kept switching between the two tasks given to prepare a report and check e-mail, has taken approximately once and a half as long to finish the report than subjects who completed a task before moving on to the next. Research suggests that multitasking can save time only when the tasks are very common.
Current studies indicate that there is a cost for fast task switching. Multitasking non-routine tasks reduces the ability to concentrate, a lost time during the period required to "reset" your mind for different tasks and finally the memory problems.
If you are multi-tasking that you play the guitar, you are laying anywhere from 10% to 50% of your concentration. Obviously, if to focus you 100% of your mind on your current session of practice, you will get good results if you use only 50%.
Are you ready to get the best results every time that you play the guitar? If so, close the door, turn off your telephone ring, turn off the TV and close your e-mail. If you live with someone, tell them that you should not be disrupted for the next 30 minutes. Take your guitar and start of practice and you will take your guitar playing to another level as soon as you never thought possible.
